South African Business Incubation Conference

Date: 15- 16 November 2018

Venue: Emperors Palace, Johannesburg, Gauteng Province, South Africa

Theme: Creating Inclusive Entrepreneurial growth through innovation

Seda has identified a need to create a platform where everything related to Technology Business Incubation can be discussed to support the sectors and industries and ultimately, the Small Medium and Micro Enterprises (SMMEs) in South Africa. As a result, Seda and the Department of Small Business Development (Dsbd) are hosting the South African Business Incubation Conference (Sabic) on the 15-16 November 2018 at the Emperors Palace in Johannesburg, Gauteng Province.



The theme for the conference is “Creating inclusive entrepreneurial growth through innovation” and the conference aims to discuss the following key issues:

  • Entrepreneural ecosystem
  • Industry Trends and innovation
  • Funding
  • Commercialization
  • Digital disruption


Papers should address any of the following sub-themes in the various fields of Business, Entrepreneurship Innovation, Finance, Economics, Incubation and Technology that are either directly or indirectly related to the main theme. However, even research papers remotely related to the main theme will be considered.



Conference attendance and participation is open to all interested parties irrespective of whether one is presenting a paper or not.



Guidelines for Submissions

Submissions of full papers (in MS Word files) should be sent to: sabic@mzevents.co.za



The submitted papers should adhere to the following guidelines:

  1. Papers should preferably not exceed 6 000 words.
  2. All tables, illustrations and figures should be incorporated in the body of the manuscript.
  3. Since the Conference will follow a policy of blind peer review, the first page of the text proper should carry the title of the article, but not the name(s) of the author(s).
  4. A separate page should carry the title of the article, its author(s) and relevant biographical information, including full name, academic title, current position and institution (where appropriate). Postal and e-mail addresses should also be provided.
  5. The reference technique should be according to the Harvard style of referencing.


Decisions will be communicated within four weeks from the date of receipt of the paper. The final closing date for receipt of papers is 25 October 2018.
